Two new independent retailers to open

Two new independent retailers to open at Royal Victoria Place

This autumn, Royal Victoria Place is set to welcome two new independent stores to its range of retailers.

From Wednesday 14th September, Green Duck Emporium will be open to visitors at the centre, with founder Matt Elesmore hoping to develop the space into his flagship Tunbridge Wells store.

Perfect for shoppers who are looking to support local businesses and sustainable products, Green Duck Emporium offers a wide range of lifestyle items, from soap and candles to homeware and individually sourced pieces of furniture.

Previously a stage manager from Tunbridge Wells before the pandemic, Matt decided to turn his hand to retail after losing his job during Covid-19. Keen to develop something unique and creative, Green Duck Emporium’s collection of quirky furniture and one-off pieces reflect Matt’s creativity and love of the arts from his former role.

Following the success of the first store, located on Grosvenor Road in Tunbridge Wells, Matt has been able to expand his team with ten new members within two years and is looking to hire more colleagues at his space in Royal Victoria Place.

Another independent business is also due to join the centre this Autumn. Belgravia Hair Group, a new and innovative hair & beauty salon is set to open in September.

The salon prides itself on offering all treatments and services under one roof, including complete hair services, nail extensions and beauty treatments.

Matt Elesmore, CEO of the Green Duck Group, said:

We are proud to be part of the range of independent retailers in Tunbridge Wells, and we are excited to be expanding our offering to Royal Victoria Place. When we were looking at a new venue, RVP stood out as the perfect home for us and we’re excited to begin trading very soon.

Green Duck Emporium offers something for everyone. If you’re looking for interior design inspiration, a one-off piece of beautiful furniture or a special gift, we’ve got a range of quirky and unique pieces for locals to browse.

Ves McLean, owner of Belgravia Hair Group, added:

We’re really happy to be in final stages of our launch plans and when we’re open we hope to bring something new and fresh to the hair and beauty offering at Royal Victoria Place.

Whether it’s the monthly nail touch up you promised yourself or if you want to experiment with a new hairdo, we’ll make it effortless for our customers to book an appointment with us. We’re looking forward to welcoming more customers in Tunbridge Wells and are also looking to expand in the future with a Belgravia hair & beauty academy.”

Nicky Blanchard, centre manager at Royal Victoria Place, said:

We’re thrilled to be opening our doors to two new retailers at Royal Victoria Place. We hope that customers continue to support the growing number of independent stores at the centre to help give back to the local community.

From the carefully curated collection and unique one-off pieces at Green Duck Emporium, to hair and beauty at Belgravia, there is plenty for visitors to enjoy this autumn.”

Green Duck Emporium and Belgravia join a range of new offerings which have recently arrived at Royal Victoria Place, including the expansion of Gymboree Play and Music, who specialize in baby and toddler classes.
