Ukraine Relief Group Pop Up
Located on the Upper Floor next to Burrells Jewellers, the Ukraine Relief Group has taken residency at the centre and aims to help support Ukrainian refugees who have been forced to flee their country due to the ongoing conflict, as well as families still living in Ukraine.
Donations of all varieties are welcomed, from clothes and toys to books and living essentials. Those who wish to donate are encouraged to check what items may be most needed on the Ukraine Relief Group’s Facebook.
The team are available to accept donations between 9.30am – 5.00pm on weekdays at the unit, or from 9.00am – 6.00pm on Saturdays and between 10.30am – 4.30pm on Sundays.
A Ukrainian artist, Rustem Stahurski, is also displaying his work in the unit with a commission from each purchase going towards the relief effort. He has previously exhibited in Ukraine and specialises in multi-layered scenes of nature and still life.
Nicky Blanchard, centre manager at Royal Victoria Place, said:
“The Ukraine Relief Group is truly making a difference to those who have escaped the conflict in Ukraine and are in need of essentials, as well as to families who are still based in the warzone" “We’re proud to be able to offer the team a unit to help drive as many donations as we can, both during the festive season and into the New Year.”
Richard Akehurst, CEO and founder of the Ukraine Relief group added:
“Our new pop-up at Royal Victoria Place will go a long way towards our goals of providing much needed humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
“We’ve had a fantastic response since opening and have raised over £5,000 to help our cause. We’d like to thank the team at Royal Victoria Place, our volunteers, and those who have donated and purchased items. We’re hopeful that over the festive period we can raise even more to help those in need.”
